Okay…. With Chelsie consuming most of my thoughts ;) I don’t usually post too much about Cobert, but I can’t seem to get this scene from the new trailer out of my mind. First off, there’s no way Cora is cheating, right? It’s just not in her nature. Plus she adores her sweet and irritating Robert. What I wouldn’t mind is a jealous Robert…and an interesting storyline for Cobert. I admit that I’m eager to see where this is going, and happy that Downton has perked my interest again in something going on upstairs.
It would be completely out of character for Cora. That would be crappy writing.
SPECULATION: I’ve honestly thought that since this season will be like their 35th anniversary, that Cora will commission Simon Bricker to purchase a piece of art for Robert. Maybe Simon Bricker has interest in her (maybe he even tries to make a move on her) and she sneaks around to purchase this art as a surprise, and it leads Robert to think something is going on. Hey, he’s usually always wrong any way, it would fit his MO. A jealous Robert would be lovely though, as long as in the end it all gets straightened out. I’m super excited/nervous for Season 5! :)
I pray you’re right! I would LOVE to see Robert act truly passionate about Cora. None of this reserved Englishman garbage. Can you imagine how spectacularly this could play out?
I also think that an affair doesn’t match Cora’s personality. But Iy will love to see a jealous Robert for a change, since everything will end well with them. But it’s important that they can have a stronger storyline this season, Hugh and Elizabeth are great actors and they deserve it. So after an entire season of Cobert bliss, I can enjoy some drama since acompanied by a lot of romance between this two beloved characters.
Robert exited the carriage, the snow crunching under his boots. He stood for a moment, taking it in, inhaling deeply. The cold winter air invigorated his lungs, a stark contrast to the choking aridity of Africa. The smells of smoke puffing out of Downton’s chimneys and the spruce needle wreaths…
